Inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. IBD occurs in ~1% of the population.

Definition

IBD is a condition characterized as chronic inflammation in certain sites of the GI tract that can come and go. It is due to an abnormal immune reaction.
